Junior Interior Designer – Commercial Fit-Out Projects
Modus Careers is excited to be working on behalf of a thriving design & build firm in search of a driven Junior Interior Designer to join their team. This opportunity will have you working on a variety of high-profile commercial fit-out projects, providing a perfect platform for career growth and hands-on experience.
Working closely with the Head of Design, you’ll be integral to transforming design concepts into reality, taking ownership of key aspects of the design process. From collaborating with consultants and contractors to leading client meetings, this role offers a comprehensive experience in the design journey from conception to completion.

- Salary: circa £30,000, depending on experience.
- Work Arrangement: Hybrid working – 3 days in the Cambridge office, 2 days from home (post probation).

What You’ll Be Doing:
- Develop and refine interior design packages in alignment with project scope, budget, and client expectations.
- Work on design concepts and detailed construction packages, coordinating with consultants and regulatory bodies.
- Engage with manufacturers and suppliers to source materials and ensure top-quality execution of designs.
- Attend site meetings and regularly liaise with stakeholders to ensure projects stay on track.
- Collaborate on the preparation of visualisations and graphics for client presentations.
- Manage and lead design approval meetings, ensuring clear communication and a proactive approach to project success.
What We’re Looking For:
- Experience in Commercial Interior Design.
- Skilled in AutoCAD, Adobe Creative Suite and 3Ds Max/VRay – Revit experience is desirable.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with confidence in presenting to clients.
- Strong organisational and time management skills, with experience handling multiple projects simultaneously.
- Technical understanding of current building and planning regulations.
- Enthusiastic, self-motivated, and able to work independently as well as part of a collaborative team.
