Quantity Surveyor

Quantity Surveyor

Salary up to £65,000

Most Quantity Surveyor roles promise responsibility, but in reality they revolve around protecting what already exists. Managing cost plans that were set long before you arrived. Inheriting commercial processes you’re expected to follow, not improve. Keeping projects on track without ever really shaping how the business operates.

This role is different.

Our client is a well-established structural steel contractor operating from a position of strength. Their order book is secure, their clients are loyal and their project pipeline is already committed through to the end of 2026. They are not recruiting out of urgency or firefighting, but out of intent.

Over the last year, the business has invested heavily in senior operational leadership. Project delivery has stepped up a level. Systems are improving. Standards are higher. The missing piece now is a Quantity Surveyor who can bring the same level of commercial clarity, ownership and confidence to the table.

This is a role where you are trusted to run your projects properly. Where commercial decisions matter. Where your input influences how work is priced, managed and delivered, not just how it’s reported after the fact. You won’t be boxed into a narrow scope or buried in admin. You’ll be close to the action, visible to senior leadership and involved in shaping how the business continues to grow.

If you’re an experienced Quantity Surveyor who feels underused, constrained by process or ready for a role with more autonomy and influence, this is the kind of opportunity that rarely comes to market.

The Role

You’ll take responsibility for the commercial performance of multiple structural steel projects, from early engagement through to final account. That includes:

  • Managing project costs, forecasts, valuations and final accounts with confidence
  • Administering JCT and NEC contracts, handling variations and change control cleanly and commercially
  • Procuring and managing subcontractors and supply chain packages
  • Producing accurate cost reports and cash flow forecasts for senior management
  • Working closely with project managers and site teams to manage risk and protect margin
  • Building strong working relationships with clients, consultants and the wider supply chain

You’ll be given autonomy, but you won’t be on your own. This is a collaborative environment where commercial input is valued, listened to and acted on.

Who This Suits

This role will suit a Quantity Surveyor who:

  • Has experience within structural steel construction and fabrication
  • Is comfortable managing projects valued £10m+
  • Has strong working knowledge of JCT and NEC contracts
  • Is commercially sharp, organised and confident making decisions
  • Wants more influence, not just more workload
  • Is looking for a long-term role in a stable, growing business

What’s On Offer

  • Salary up to £65,000, depending on experience
  • A secure pipeline of work already in place through to 2026
  • A business that is growing steadily and investing in the right people
  • A role with genuine responsibility and visibility at senior level
  • Typically 3 days per week on London project sites, with the remainder split between home and the HQ in Haverhill

This is a role for someone who wants to be trusted, challenged and properly valued.

If you’re an experienced Quantity Surveyor who feels underutilised, boxed in or ready for a role with more impact, this one is worth your attention.
